Tadasky Artist’s Loft
New York City
The renovation of the painter Tadasky’s loft space in Chelsea was to organize it for hanging the paintings the artists still retained from 1960’s to the present. To provide the maximum hanging area, a series of glass catwalks were designed to hang high and low in the high-ceilinged space. The high-hanging level can be accessed from the catwalk, and the work seen through the glass from the floor level. Lighting is located along the catwalk to orient up or down to the artwork. Windows were cut out of the substantial brick walls of the old former power substation to bring daylight and ventilation into the space.
